Hey folks! This is Jake from Magnatech Auto Glass.

Welcome to another Q&A session where I answer questions from y'all on the internet.

Today's question is:

"Can birds fly into my windshield and crack it? - Magnatech Autoglass"

Answer

Can a bird crack a windshield? Cuz you swear you you had a seagull slam into the windshield. So, I've actually seen this a couple times. So, it hasn't happened a lot. I'd say over a 20 year career, I've probably seen about two or three times where a bird has hit the windshield and cracked it out. One was a turkey. One was I swear it was a seagull. I don't know what the third one is. It was I think it was like a raven or something like that. But the third one happened at our shop about 6 months ago and there were feathers all over the crack of this windshield.

Summary

If a car door sounds like a "bag of marbles" when shut after a glass replacement, it indicates a previous technician failed to vacuum all the glass shards out of the door panel (00:13:06). While rare, birds, such as seagulls or turkeys, have been known to crack windshields upon impact (00:15:02).
