Hey folks! This is Jake from Magnatech Auto Glass.
Welcome to another Q&A session where I answer questions from y'all on the internet.
Today's question is:
"Do you fix sunroofs?"
Answer:
Yes, but only the glass part. The easy answer is yes—we can do a replacement on the glass part of the sunroof. These get quite complicated with the cassette trays and the mechanism and everything like that. That’s definitely going to be a job for the dealership.
I know there are some technicians out there that will do it, but it’s really time-intensive and usually something we won’t do. Now, replacing the glass—if you take a rock through it and it’s busted open—that is 100% something we can fix.
So the line is: if it’s the sunroof glass itself, we can replace that. If it’s the mechanical system, tracks, or the full cassette mechanism, that’s usually dealership territory because of complexity and time.
Summary:
Magnatech can replace the glass portion of a sunroof, especially if it’s damaged or shattered. However, complex sunroof mechanisms and cassette-related repairs are typically referred to a dealership due to time and complexity.
