Hey folks! This is Jake from Magnatech Auto Glass.

Welcome to another Q&A session where I answer questions from y'all on the internet.

Today's question is:

"How To Prepare Your Windshield For Rainy Season in Seattle?"

Answer from Jake

So, two things that I recommend as a glass installer. Um, the first one is we're about to go into torrential downpour uh down uh downpour season. torrential downpour season and uh wiper blades. People will sit for the rest of the year on the same wiper blade and once the rainy season hits, they're like, "Why can't I see out of my window?" Replace your wiper blades now before it starts pouring. The second thing that only select shops do nowadays, ceramic coat your front windshield. You're going to get a longer lasting coating that's going to protect that glass and make it 100% hydrophobic. And that's going to help a lot of people out when the rainy season hits. We have a specific customer that sees us every year this time of year cuz she wants to get her windshield coated and and we coat it and she never has an issue. She'll come in with her new wiper blades. We'll replace them, coat her windshield for 100 bucks, 150, whatever the package she wants and then she's out the door.

Summary - TLDR

Magnatech Autoglass recommended two key preparations for the rainy season: replacing wiper blades before heavy rains begin and applying a ceramic coating to the front windshield. They explained that ceramic coating makes the glass 100% hydrophobic, significantly aiding visibility during downpours, and mentioned a customer who annually gets their windshield coated along with new wiper blades
