Hey folks! This is Jake from Magnatech Auto Glass.

Welcome to another Q&A session where I answer questions from y'all on the internet.

Today's question is:

"Is after market auto glass safe?"

Answer:

Aftermarket glass is perfectly safe. In fact, most OEM companies are the biggest makers of aftermarket glass. So it’s DOT approved. We install all of it.

A lot of people hear “aftermarket” and assume that means low quality, but that’s not how glass works in the real world. The glass we install is DOT approved, and it’s used every day in normal replacements. OEM is an option, and some customers prefer it, but safety-wise, aftermarket glass is not automatically “worse.” The important thing is that the glass is approved and installed correctly. So if you’re deciding between OEM and aftermarket, it should be based on preference and the specific situation—not fear that aftermarket is unsafe.

Summary:

Magnatech states aftermarket glass is safe and DOT-approved, and they install it regularly. Many OEM manufacturers also produce aftermarket glass, so aftermarket is a normal and reliable option.
