Hey folks! This is Jake from Magnatech Auto Glass.

Welcome to another Q&A session where I answer questions from y'all on the internet.

Today's question is:

"What makes mobile glass work just as reliable as a job done in a shop?"

Summary:

Jake acknowledges that a shop offers advantages, including shelter, quiet, and protection from weather, but argues that mobile service matches shop quality in roughly ninety-nine percent of cases. Magnatech uses a tent that fits most sedans and SUVs, so even sideways rain isn't a problem as long as the glass can be prepped and the car kept dry. For larger vehicles like semis, the team improvises with covered spaces such as car washes. Jake credits his and Mike's resourcefulness and determination, noting they've even installed in snow. The only real limit is dangerous wind on an exposed or sloped site, in which case they'll reschedule, but he stresses that situation is rare.

Answer:

You have to think about what a shop actually offers. A shop gives you a roof over your head, it's quieter, and the weather doesn't affect it as much. So there are some limitations to mobile, but in about ninety-nine percent of the situations out there, we can still do it mobile. When it's raining sideways, we have a tent set up, and a lot of standard sedans and SUVs fit right under it. As long as we can prep the part and keep your car dry, we can do the job. Obviously with semis we've got to find some sort of cover, so we get creative; we've used car washes before, stuff like that. Mike and I are pretty crafty. If I can't do it under a tent, we're going to find a way. We've installed down in the snow. We've got a headstrong mentality about getting the job done. We've met our limitations before, though: if someone has a sloped driveway and it's raining and the tent wants to blow away, there's a point where it gets dangerous, and once the wind reaches a certain limit we'll say, hey, let's wait for better conditions. But it's very rare that ever happens.
