Hey folks! This is Jake from Magnatech Auto Glass.

Welcome to another Q&A session where I answer questions from y'all on the internet.

Today's question is:

"What vehicles come with more expensive auto glass repairs?"

Answer from Jake

This is a big one, and honestly something I try to prepare customers for right out the gate—some vehicles are just more expensive to work on, especially when it comes to glass replacement. The top of that list? Tesla, BMW, and Mercedes. It’s not that they’re impossible to work on or anything, but a lot of customers with those vehicles want OEM glass only. And that comes at a price.

OEM glass, or Original Equipment Manufacturer glass, is the stuff that comes straight from the dealer. When we order OEM, we’re dealing with dealer markups, shipping charges, and all that jazz. And here’s the thing—OEM glass can be two to three times more expensive than aftermarket, and sometimes even more depending on availability. It looks nearly identical, and in most cases performs the same. But some folks are particular—and I get it. If you’ve got a high-end vehicle, you want to keep it to factory specs.

That said, we do have access to high-quality aftermarket glass for just about every vehicle on the market. And we use it all the time, especially for insurance jobs. Insurance companies usually approve aftermarket glass without a second thought, and we stand behind it. Our suppliers warranty their glass, so if there’s ever a defect or issue, we can swap it out under warranty at no cost to you.

At the end of the day, we let you choose. If you want OEM, we’ll get it for you. If you’re okay with saving money and going aftermarket, we’ve got solid options for that too.

Summary - TLDR

Tesla, BMW, and Mercedes vehicles often come with higher glass replacement costs, especially when customers request OEM-only glass. OEM parts from dealers come with markup, sometimes costing 2-3 times more than aftermarket options. Magnatech Autoglass offers both options, depending on the customer’s preference, and ensures warranty-backed replacements.
