Hey folks! This is Jake from Magnatech Auto Glass.

Welcome to another Q&A session where I answer questions from y'all on the internet.

Today's question is:

"What weather do you need for a safe install, and how do you handle PNW rain and wind?"

Summary:

Jake says the ideal installation weather is sunny to overcast, but in practice very little stops the team except high wind. Rain is manageable because they work under a tent; the problem only arises when wind is strong enough to lift the tent, at which point they pause for safety. Snow, by contrast, isn't an obstacle. The other limiting factor is space, since tight parking spots can prevent the van and tent setup, so the size of the area where a vehicle is parked matters. Even then, Jake notes they'll relocate the car a short distance with the customer's permission. The overall message is that they consistently find a way to complete a safe install.

Answer:

A couple of things. The best weather to install in would be sunny to overcast. But if you think about it, there's not a whole lot that really hinders us other than wind, because rain we can install under a tent. Once you have weather strong enough to uproot our tents, there's a certain point where we have to stop and say, okay, we can't do that. But snow? Good to go. I'm trying to think of other scenarios. There are spots that are pretty tight where we can't get our van in and set up a tent, and that makes it difficult, so the size of the spot you park your vehicle in does matter. But we're crafty: if I need to take the vehicle down the block, as long as the customer's good with it, we can do that. We always try to find a way to make it work.
