Hey folks! This is Jake from Magnatech Auto Glass.

Welcome to another Q&A session where I answer questions from y'all on the internet.

Today's question is:

"What's the worst damage you've seen from someone putting off a repair?"

Summary:

Jake's clearest example of waiting too long is a broken-out door glass left for months. By the time the team arrives, mold has grown throughout the interior, the vehicle smells bad, and the environment is genuinely unpleasant to work in; he describes it as a science experiment created by an open car sitting in the rain. While Magnatech still wants to help and will replace the glass, the delay turns a straightforward tempered-glass job into something much harder and more involved, because the problem is no longer just the window but everything the exposed interior has absorbed. His takeaway is that addressing a broken-out window quickly prevents costly secondary damage to the seats, carpet, and overall condition of the vehicle.

Answer:

The one we see most for that scenario is a broken-out door glass that somebody waited months to deal with. By the time we show up, there's mold growing everywhere, the vehicle stinks, and it's just not pleasant to be around. Once the inside of a car has been open to the rain for that long, the moisture gets into the seats and carpet and it starts growing, basically a science experiment. We still want to help that person and get their glass replaced, but it makes the whole job harder and a lot less enjoyable when it's gotten to that point. That's really the cost of waiting on a busted-out tempered window: it's not just the glass anymore, it's everything the open car has been exposed to in the meantime. The sooner you get a broken-out window handled, the less of that secondary damage you end up dealing with.
